After completing a degree in Geography, my focus in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) led me to a career supporting a diverse range of environmental and natural resource projects, spanning decades across provinces and territories.

I currently work as a GIS Technician at the Aurora Research Institute in Inuvik, Northwest Territories. Before moving to Inuvik several years ago, I knew little about permafrost and its far-reaching effects. Living and working in the Beaufort-Delta region has broadened my understanding of how permafrost shapes northern landscapes and intersects the projects we support.

I applied to the LEAP program to improve my knowledge of permafrost across different perspectives, including the theoretical and practical ways it effects communities, infrastructure, and ecosystems. I see this program as a valuable opportunity to connect with people from varied backgrounds, learn from their experiences, and build knowledge that I can apply to future projects in support of research and communities across the North.
