Claudia Azigwe is an Environmental Program Manager with Kátł’odeeche First Nation in Hay River, Northwest Territories. She holds a Master of Engineering in Environmental Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Botany. Her work focuses on environmental monitoring, climate change, water quality, wildlife management, and community-based environmental initiatives in northern Canada.

In her current role, Claudia coordinates environmental programs that integrate Indigenous knowledge, scientific research, and community engagement to support informed decision-making and environmental stewardship. She is particularly passionate about strengthening Indigenous capacity in environmental management and creating opportunities for youth to engage in land-based learning and environmental science.

As an NSERC CREATE LEAP trainee, Claudia hopes to deepen her understanding of permafrost systems, climate-driven landscape changes, and their implications for northern ecosystems and communities. She looks forward to gaining interdisciplinary perspectives and applying this knowledge to support community-led environmental monitoring, climate adaptation, and sustainable environmental management in the North.
