Galina is a graduate student at Carleton University supervised by Dr. Stephan Gruber. Her research focuses on improving our understanding of future permafrost change through modelling, and on making this information more usable for decision-makers in engineering and infrastructure planning.

During a semester in Greenland, Galina developed a strong interest in the Arctic, how it is changing in a warming climate, and how these changes affect the people who live there. As a LEAP trainee, she looks forward to learning about permafrost from multiple points of views and contexts, helping to inform how she communicates her research results.
