I am a Ph.D. student at the University of Alberta and a member of the Permafrost Archive Science (PACS) lab group. My research aims to create a detailed map of the distribution of ground ice on the Peel Plateau in the Northwest Territories, an area with extensive buried glacial ice. The Dempster Highway, the only all-season highway that links southern Canada to communities in the Beaufort Delta, traverses this ice-rich area.

I have lived and conducted research in the Arctic for many years. I studied in Svalbard for long, where I developed a foundational understanding of Arctic geomorphology and permafrost landscapes. For my undergraduate thesis, I investigated a permafrost palsa system in northern Finland. For my master’s thesis, I refined the chronology of a Younger Dryas re-advance of the Fennoscandian Ice Sheet.

These experiences have shaped my scientific and personal perspective on permafrost landscapes. Driven by curiosity and passion, I aim to understand their past and apply that insight to societally relevant challenges in cold regions.
